Dark Chocolate Hot Fudge Cake

This cake is insanely enriched with deep dark chocolate and fudgy goodness inside! Top with your favorite vanilla ice cream…and indulge into the depths of extreme richness of dark chocolate!
  • Cake Mixture:
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate baking cocoa
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1 cube (1/2 cup) butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • Fudge Mixture:
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup dark chocolate baking cocoa
  • 1 and 1/4 cup of hot water
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Cake Mixture:
  3. Whisk together 1 cup of flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 3/4 cup sugar and 1/2 cup dark chocolate baking cocoa.
  4. Add melted butter, milk and vanilla.
  5. Whisk together until combined.
  6. Pour the chocolate batter into a 9-inch square pan.
  7. Spread the batter evenly.
  8. Sprinkle one cup of dark chocolate chips on top.
  9. Set aside.
  10. Fudge Mixture:
  11. In a separate small mixing bowl, add 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 1/4 cup dark chocolate baking cocoa.
  12. Mix until completely combined.
  13. Sprinkle the sugar/cocoa mixture onto the chocolate chips.
  14. Pour 1 and 1/14 cup of hot water onto the top of the sugar/cocoa.
  15. Do not stir in the water.
  16. Bake in a 350 degrees preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes.
  17. Allow to cool and set up for about 10 minutes.
If making this cake ahead of time, add the hot water right before you put into the oven. Recipe modified from Hershey's Cocoa Cook Book
