German Chocolate Fudge Bars

       - 1 box German Chocolate Cake mix
  - 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons butter, melted, divided
  - 1 egg, beaten
  - 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided
  - 4 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
  - 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  - 2 and a half cups honey roasted nuts, divided
  - 1 and a half cup coconut
  
      - Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  - Cake Layer:
  - Melt 1/2 cup (1 cube) of butter in a large mixing bowl.
  - Add the package of the German Chocolate Cake mix into the melted butter.
  - Add 1 beaten egg into the butter and cake mix. Stir together.
  - Pat evenly into a 9x7 inch baking dish, lined with parchment paper or foil.
  - Bake in the oven for 8 minutes.
  - Fudge Layer:
  - Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a small sauce pan. Once melted, take off heat.
  - Add 1 cup chocolate chips and stir. (The chips will melt onto the hot butter.) Set aside.
  - Put 4 ounces of room temperature cream cheese in a mixing bowl.
  - Pour in the can of sweetened condensed milk.
  - Mix together with a whisk or hand mixer.
  - Add the melted chocolate/butter mixture to the cream cheese mixture.
  - Stir all together until combined.
  - When the cake layer is done baking for the 8 minutes, sprinkle 1 and a half cup of honey roasted peanuts on the top.
  - Pour the fudge layer on top of the peanuts.
  - Sprinkle coconut on top of the of the fudge layer.
  - Continue to add the other 1 cup of honey roasted peanuts and 1 cup of chocolate chips.
  - Bake in the oven for an additional 22 minutes.
  - Allow to cool completely.
  - Cut into squares.
  - These make about 16-24 bars. (Depending on how big or small you want them.)
  
     You could use a 9×13 pan but the bars will be thinner. And the baking time will differ.
