A hearty, meaty Chili with beans and spices simply simmered in just 20 minutes …makes for a cozy hot meal for any busy night of the week!
Sometimes you just want to make a hearty chili that doesn’t take all day long.
Am I right?
I love chili. (Love, love, love!)
Mainly, because there is so much of a variety when it comes to chili.
With or without beans. Here in Utah, we do both.
Add in any kind of meat with a tomato base and spices. And, you simply have a chili.
Or, you could go meatless. But here at the house of all boys… there’s always meat in our chili.
Making this Chili in 20 minutes is not a challenge at all!
No chopping vegetables. No peeling fresh tomatoes.
That’s right… Easy!
In a large skillet on medium high heat, brown the ground beef. Tip: Ground chicken or turkey would be really good, too. I’ve even used some left over pulled pork. (Cuts down the time even more when you use meat that you’ve already cooked for a previous meal.)
When the meat is almost done browning, add chili powder, ground cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper (to taste). Finish browning the meat with the seasonings.
Browning the meat is an easy thing to do, right?
And now, this part brings us to the easiest part of the chili…
Add 4 cups of your favorite salsa. (I used my homemade salsa I canned during summer.)
Boom!
There’s your tomatoes, chopped peppers and onions.
You could choose the heat of your chili when you pick which salsa to use… mild, medium, or HOT.
The last ingredient to put in this hearty chili, is one can of chili beans with sauce.
Simple.
The sauce that is in with the beans have even more of the spices in it. So, do not drain the beans.
Let the chili simmer on medium to low heat for another 10 minutes. Uncovered– no lid. Stir occasionally.
This allows the chili to enhance the spices and ingredients together. Also, makes the consistency a little thicker.
So, there you have it. A fast chili with a lot of flavor!
Easy, simple, and fast Chili served in just 20 minutes!
Serve immediately with your favorite toppings.
Or better yet, serve it up on top of chili dogs! My family’s favorite.
Another favorite dish to make with this chili is Chili Cheese Tots!
Enjoy, my friends!

You had me at ‘no chopping’. I hate chopping stuff for recipes, so much that I will pay high prices to buy things already chopped. But using salsa is a GENIUS idea! I am so excited to try this! Pinning!
I would love for you to come over and link up at Wine’d Down Wednesday if you get a chance. We party every week from Tuesday evening to late Friday night! Hope to see you there!

I LOVE this, Gloria! Sometimes I crave chili during the week but when I don’t make it in my slow cooker, it takes too long to make after work! I could pick up all the stuff to make this on my lunch break and have a tasty dinner within an hour of getting home from work. YES! Pinned!

Well, if you’re like me… most of the time, I don’t even know what to have for dinner until every one is saying how they are starving! So, sometimes (actually most times) I’m not even prepared to have dinner in the crock pot in the morning…unless I’m way ahead of the game. When you make it Julie, let me know what you think! (Be sure to use any kind of meat that you like!)

Thanks, Kathy! It just cuts so much of the time and cooking when you add salsa. One of my favorite kind of salsa is the pico de gallo (fresh salsa) that is sold already made. It’s perfect!
